How To Make Decisions

We are all faced with a multitude of decisions in life. Some of them are simple and the answer flows naturally. Other decisions present us with great challenges and can be very confusing. We often feel internally conflicted. "On the one hand I feel to do x but on the other hand I think to do y." So why is there this internal confusion? Why don't decisions always flow naturally? Most importantly is there a way to make a decision knowing it will be the right choice?

There is no one decision in the same circumstance that is right for all people at all times. It always depends on the individual in the moment. It depends on our own inner reality . . . and that's where the problems begin. The reason decisions are not straightforward is not that there is more than one right choice. The problem is that our internal conflict means we can't rationality determine which is the right choice. The problem is in us.

This is a big issue. It is difficult to cut it short but in essence the problem is our internal being becomes fractured into different energies, beliefs and desires which compete with each other. So for example one part of us may want the job promotion to impress our new boyfriend whereas the other part may just want to quit the job all together, travel and explore the world.

The primary internal tension is between our egoic drives and the desire of our essence or soul. So how do we know which choice is merely our ego and which is who we really are and is aligned with our higher purpose? Which choice will led to us living from our essence?

It's actually very easy - just relax. And when I say relax I mean fully, totally and completely.

If you are stressed, contracted or in fear in any way then you can be sure it will be your ego operating influencing your decision. The ego is fear. The ego is your limiting beliefs and contracted being. Egoic decisions rely on rationality, lists, pros and cons. We try to determine what we will get or gain from the different options.

In contrast our soul or essence is the relaxed, always at peace, core at the centre of our being. It is who we really are. Decisions from this place always just arise as a knowing or an intuition. These choices are ALWAYS the right choice.

Therefore never make a choice when you are stressed, believe there are limitations in your life, concerned about your future or you are in some way in fear. For example if you have just had a fight with your partner and are angry, NEVER make a decision about ending the relationship.

To make a decision, particularly an important decision, take the time to relax. Allow yourself to breath. Follow the practices offered here. Particularly relax the forehead and skull. Just allow and surrender to your inner wisdom. The correct decision will naturally arise.

When a knowing arises in your being, it may seem like there are many reasons this is the wrong decision. Your friends will be giving you all sorts of advice often contrary to your own knowing. This is the time to trust and have faith in your own truth and to trust you own essence.

So in short to make a decision relax, connect with your essence and trust yourself. It takes some practice but yes it's that easy.
